The Empire Strikes Black
BBC Radio 4 Production
The Empire Strikes Black is a 29-minute radio production for BBC Radio 4. DW Multimedia provided extensive audio production, sound editing, and final mix delivery for the Bath production company Reel Soul Movies and the London-based Cast Iron Productions. The entire production was completed using Pro Tools in our Bath-based sound studio.
Journalist Hugh Muir travels with Sir Simon Woolley, head of Operation Black Vote, to Buckingham Palace, where Sir Simon is to receive his knighthood from HM The Queen. The journey explores the complex emotions — the dilemma, joy, soul-searching, and agony — of being honoured for services to the British Empire by anyone whose family history is marked by oppression, slavery, or violence as a result of the Empire.
